Red Rocks Canon Open Space: 31st St. Trail Connection: City of Colorado Springs Trails & Open Space (TOPS) Department. Colorado. Prime Contractor (click here to see more) Layout and construction of 1800 linear feet of 48”to 60” rolling contour trail in Colorado Springs newest and most diverse open space acquisition. This plan/build project, much of which traversed reclaimed landfills and access roads, presented us with many man-made planning and construction challenges that led to some of our most creative solutions to date. |

Venetucci Farm Nature Trail: Venetucci Farm Foundation. Fountain, Colorado. Prime Contractor. (click here to see more) Performed consulting services for the initial layout and construction for an interpretively based nature walk trail circumnavigating the properties. Finalized layout, coordinated volunteers, and contributed mechanized construction services for the completion of 2500 linear feet of a one to two mile proposed system. |

North Cheyenne Canon Park, Columbine Trail Rehabilitation Phase 3: City of Colorado Springs Parks & Recreation Department/Friends of Cheyenne Canon. Prime Contractor. (click here to see more) Completed on the Upper Columbine Trail, this project involved the rehabilitation of approximately 4500 of the most technically challenging sections of the trail system. Utilizing mini-excavators and our expert trail crew, TrailArts reconstructed six climbing turns, two large retaining walls; three armored and retained stream crossings, and over 50 grade dips and drains in six weeks! |

North Cheyenne Canon Park, Columbine Trail Rehabilitation Phase 4: City of Colorado Springs Parks & Recreation Department/Friends of Cheyenne Canon. Prime Contractor. (click here to see more) Completed 2500 feet of machine-assisted rehabilitation on the Lower Columbine Trail. This project, located directly under the Pinnacle Peak Climbing Area, included a 325 foot trail re-route with stone-retained climbing turns, and required numerous stone crib wall retainers and extensive excavation to restore the trail to a 48” wide specification. This phase also completed our involvement with the Columbine Rehabilitation Project with over 14,000 linear feet of trail reconditioned over the last two seasons. |

Stone-Retained Natural Surface Driveway: Durland Residence. Colorado Springs, Colorado. Prime Contractor. (click here to see more) A plan/build project involved extensive excavation into steep side-slope, construction of 200sff of hand-laid gravity-supported natural stone retaining walls, installation of 40 feet of underground culvert drain, 4” of compacted road base, and 8” of compacted crusher fine surfacing. |

Falcon Trail Rehabilitation: United States Air Force Academy, Colorado. Subcontractor for Arrowhead Trails, Inc. (click here to see more) Sub-Contracted planning services, hand-built and mechanized new trail construction, hand built and machine-assisted trail rehabilitation; trail closure, corridor clearing/thinning, and gravity-supported stonework for Arrowhead Trails, Inc. TrailArts assisted with the rerouting and rehabilitation of over 12.5 miles of trail over a 1-year period. |

Buena Vista River Walk Trail: Buena Vista, Colorado. Subcontractor for Arrowhead Trails, Inc. (click here to see more) Sub-Contracted for Arrowhead Trails, Inc. on the construction of an 1800 foot, 48” wide crusher fine surfaced trail on the banks of the Arkansas River. Built in conjunction with Buena Vistas new riverside kayaking and rafting facilities, this trail formalizes river access for water sports, fishing, and hiking. |

Spruce Mountain Open Space, Douglas County Open Space. Colorado. Subcontractor for Arrowhead Trails, Inc. (click here to see more) Assisted with final trail layout and performed trail corridor clearing for this Arrowhead Trails, Inc. project. This two mile rolling-contour trail route to the summit of Spruce Mountain reroutes existing fall-line social trails and removes the visitor base from critical habitat zones. |

(click here to see more) Assisted with the construction of 2.5 miles of hand-built 18-24” single track trail for Arrowhead Trails Inc. An ongoing project for 2007, this IMBA designed system will include bridges and numerous rock-garden, monster boulder and stone built sections! |

Spitzmiller/Kane Trailhead: Town of Grand Lake, Colorado. Primary Contractor. (click here to see more) Performed plan/build construction management for the development of the Spitzmiller Trailhead at the gateway of Rocky Mountain National Park. This project reclaimed a short section of road on the boundary of Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park to create trailhead access to the Continental Divide Trail system. |

Stone-Retained Natural Surface Walkways: Campbell Residence. Colorado Springs, Colorado. Primary Contractor. (click here to see more) Phase 2, and the culmination of a plan/build project continued from 2004, we constructed another 200sff gravity-supported stone retaining walls, 100 linear feet of stone-retained surfaced access walkways, and complete re-vegetation and landscaping of disturbed areas with native plant species. In all, over 800sff of hand-laid gravity-supported native stone walls and over 200 linear feet of filled and compacted walkways were constructed on this project. |

North Cheyenne Canon Park Columbine Trail Rehabilitation Phase 1: City of Colorado Springs Parks & Recreation Department/Friends of Cheyenne Canon. Primary Contractor. (click here to see more) Completed the first of four phases of rehabilitation construction on the historic Columbine Trail System in North Cheyenne Canon Park. This nonmechanized reconstruction addressed 1600 linear feet of the Mid-Columbine section including the re-construction of six switchback turns and major portions of trail bench by hand. |

North Cheyenne Canon Park Columbine Trail Rehabilitation Phase 2: City of Colorado Springs Parks & Recreation Department/Friends of Cheyenne Canon: Primary Contractor. (click here to see more) Completed on the upper Mid-Columbine section, this machine-assisted reconstruction encompassed 4600lf of trail, 12 switchback turns, and numerous washout areas. Utilizing 48” wide rolling contour construction methods, TrailArts completed the project in just five weeks. |

North Cheyenne Canon, Columbine Trail Rehabilitation Phase 2-B: Colorado Springs Parks & Recreation Department/Friends of Cheyenne Canon. Primary Contractor. (click here to see more) A Plan/Build project to re-route a previously unsustainable section with 625 linear feet of 48” wide rolling contour alignment. This new section not only replaced 500ft of rutted fall-line trail but also allowed the closure of an additional 665 linear feet of unsustainable and redundant social paths in the immediate area. |

Oklahoma State Parks: Beavers Bend State Park, Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Subcontractor for Arrowhead Trails, Inc. (click here to see more) Assisted Arrowhead Trails, Inc. with the machine-assisted construction of a five-mile 48” wide rolling contour hiking/biking trail system on the shores of Broken Bow Reservoir. This IMBA designed stacked-loop system was completed in just three weeks! |

Stone Retained Natural Surface Walkways: Campbell Residence. Colorado Springs, Colorado. (click here to see more) Plan/Build project to re-construct retaining walls and establish more user-friendly access around the homeowner’s structure. Demolition included the removal of 300sff of wood-tie retainers and steps. The construction phase included four native stone, hand-laid, gravity-supported retaining walls totaling over 500sff, curving stone-retained access pathways around both the front and rear of the dwelling, and significant slope contouring and revegetation. |

Willow Creek & Nelson Ranch Open Spaces,Douglas County Open Space, Colorado. Subcontractor for Arrowhead Trails, Inc. (click here to see more) Conducted Project Supervision for the planning and construction phases. Completed in 20 weeks, this beautiful nine mile long, 48" wide trail system is located near the Colorado Trail and Pike National Forest. |

Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA): Colorado State Parks, Colorado. Subcontractor for Arrowhead Trails, Inc. (click here to see more) Supervised the construction of 225sff of trailside retaining walls and a 14-step stone staircase on the Helcla Junction Campground Riverside Trail. This project utilized native stone and was dry-laid, chinked, and armored to withstand seasonal high-water events. |

The Arrowhead Team constructed and rehabilitated 1750lf of single track hiking trail, including over 100 stone steps and 300sff of trail-retaining crib walls. |

Subcontractor for the International Mountain Bicycle Association (IMBA) (click here to see more) Assisted IMBA with the training and orientation of Trail Specialists on machine-built trail-finishing techniques. Provided training and supervision for volunteers from the Truckee Meadows Trail Association, Reno Wheelmen, and Washau County Parks Department for two weekend trail projects and ongoing volunteer involvement. |

(click here to see more) TrailArts assisted Arrowhead Trails Inc. with construction and supervised the ground crew that ultimately constructed and finished 14 miles of 48" natural surface trail in just 20 weeks. We also assisted volunteers from IMBA with the final planning phase and initial trail construction of the Medicine Wheel Trail. |
